Cell Phones
In an effort to maintain a quiet and pleasant environment, the Library requests that patrons turn off all cell phones upon entering the building. Anyone needing to make or take a call while at the Library may step outside or use the lobby area.

Computers
You are invited to explore the Library's free wireless Internet access using your own wireless-enabled laptop computer. Simply launch your Web browser. Your computer's home page will appear and you may begin surfing immediately
We also offer twelve computers for public use, eight for adults and four for children. Patrons may sign up at the desk to use the computers for one hour periods. If no one is waiting, the one hour period may be extended. Computer printouts are 20¢ a copy for black and white or 50 ¢ a copy for color.

Copy machine
A copy machine is available to the public. Fees are 20¢ per page for black & white copies and 50¢ per page for color copies.

Homebound Delivery Service
Essex residents who are unable to leave their homes may arrange for pick up and delivery of library materials by simply calling the Library and requesting this service.

Library Mission Statement

The Essex Library is a professionally directed, free public library that encourages all visitors to explore lifelong learning opportunities and locate recreational reading materials. Through its collections, services, and programs, it brings people of all ages together to share common cultural and educational interests.

Notary Public

We currently have one Notary Public on staff. Ann Thompson is available Monday - Wednesday and Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Thursdays 1-8 p.m.

Tax Forms

Taxpayers were recently advised they will no longer receive income tax packages in the mail from the IRS. You may use the links on the IRS website to view, download, or order forms, schedules, and instructions needed for filing a paper income tax return. The Library will have copies of tax forms available shortly (by mid-January, hopefully). Until then, patrons may come in and request copies of forms be printed for them at no cost. We are unable to print copies of instruction booklets due to their size (100+ pages).

Volunteers
Volunteers play a very important role in the operation of the Essex Library. Among the many tasks they perform are: shelving of books and materials, helping prepare materials to go one the shelves, reading and organizing shelves, special projects, and assisting with special Library events (hosting, baking for programs, book sales, etc.) The Library is greatly indebted to its hundreds of volunteer "family members".
