Endowment Gifts
Gifts toward the endowment are invested by the Library Association Board based on Board approved Investment Guidelines. The endowment ensures strong, permanent and sustainable support of our library as a valuable community resource. Income from our Endowment is used annually to support general library operations and service USDA financing acquired for the construction and renovation of the library in 2006. Endowment income used for operations reduces dependence on town tax allocations and therefore assists in keeping the local mill rate low. Currently, the Town of Essex contributes approximately 35% of annual revenue. The remainder is provided by Annual Operating* gifts, income from the Endowment, gifts from the Friends of the Library and revenue from fines, copy machines and State reimbursements.
